Children and Youth

Our parish operates a Sunday School for children aged 4-11 as well as a youth group for older children and teens.  The Parish also runs the annual summer St Seraphim Youth Camp for all  the children of the Diocese of Sourozh.

Sunday School ages 5-11

Our Sunday School is a community of children between the ages of five and eleven. We meet after the Divine Liturgy during coffee hour for approximately 30 minutes, every week during the school year (with occasional exceptions). Our time together includes a prayer, a snack, and a lively lesson from our DBS-checked teachers. We tend to spend time exploring a theme in depth; for instance, during the 2020-2021 year, we worked our way through each article of the Creed, learning through art, song, drama, stories, iconography, Scripture study, nature walks, discussions and practice until we knew the whole Creed by heart. In 2021-2022 we are exploring Orthodox Mysteries: Sacraments and Worship of the Orthodox Church. New children are welcome to join any time, even if they are simply visiting Oxford or want to see what our group is like. Please come to find us in St Nicholas House, across the road from the church with a red front door.

Oxford Orthodox Youth Group ages 11-17

The group is open to all Orthodox youth in the Oxford area between the ages of 11 and 18. The group meets monthly, usually on Friday evenings, for food, fellowship, prayer and fun. We also usually have some kind of discussion, game or activity to deepen our understanding of our life in Christ. Meetings are concluded by sung evening prayers in the chapel, after which there are lifts home, unless parents have made other arrangements. Youth group meetings begin at 7.30 pm and finish at 10.30 p.m. They take place in Headington, Oxford, and are usually led by Fr Stephen and Fr Ian Graham (Greek Orthodox Community of the Holy Trinity). All Orthodox young people between the ages specified are welcome to come along. Everyone is welcome - tell your Orthodox friends!
